Terms of Use
Last updated: September 6, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and I Dream Stuff ("we," "us," "the app"), operated by Crane & Archer, LLC. They're written to be read, not to be hidden behind. By creating an account or using the app, you're agreeing to them, and to the Privacy Policy, which is part of them. If you don't, that's okay — but then please don't use the app.
Please read §14. These terms include a binding arbitration agreement and a class-action waiver that affect how disputes between you and us are resolved. You can opt out of arbitration within 30 days — §14 tells you how.
How your dreams are handled is covered separately, in the
Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms. Start there if privacy is your question.
1. You must be 18 or older
I Dream Stuff is for adults. You must be at least 18 to create an account, and we ask your birth year at signup solely to check that. If you're under 18, you may not use the app.
2. Your account
You're responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password safe. Use a handle, not your real name — the app is built around anonymity, and we encourage you to keep it that way. Don't impersonate someone else, and don't create an account for anyone under 18.
3. Your dreams are yours
You own what you write, speak, and create in the app — your dream entries, and the dream cards and films made from them. We claim no ownership of your dreams or the films you create, and we don't sell them.
To actually run the app for you, you give us a limited licence to store, process, and display your content back to you — and, only for the specific pieces you choose to share, to the people you share them with. This licence exists so the app can function: to save your journal, generate a reading, draw a card, render a film, show a friend the card you turned on. It runs, where needed, through the service providers that power those features (see §10). It is not a licence for us to use your dreams or your creations for anything else — and we do not use them to train AI models. It ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from copies kept briefly in routine backups or where the law requires us to keep them.
If you share content with connected members ("Dream Friends" and the community), you give those members, and us, the licence needed to show it inside that feature. Shared posts and their comment threads are ephemeral — they expire from the feed after 7 days — while the original stays in your Journal.
4. What the AI can and can't do
The app uses AI to interpret dreams, draw cards, make films, write portraits, and voice its audio. A few honest limits:
- Readings, portraits, and the like are offered as lenses for reflection — not facts, not predictions, and not real events. Nothing in the app is medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice, or a diagnosis, and it is not a substitute for professional care. If you're struggling or in crisis, please contact a qualified professional or your local emergency services — the app is not one. Don't use the sleep or meditation audio while driving or operating machinery.
- AI output is imperfect and can be surreal or wrong. That's part of it. We don't promise any particular result — better sleep, lucid dreaming, or otherwise.
- Everything the app makes is AI-generated, and we say so — in these terms and in the app. Dream Films are additionally labeled as AI-generated on the film itself, because a realistic video of a person should never be mistaken for something real. Where we mark content as AI-made, you agree not to remove, hide, or falsify that mark, and — where the law requires you to say that something is AI-generated — you'll say so.
- Some AI-made items — Dream Films especially — are generated to order and are not refundable once made. If a film fails to render, we refund the credits it would have cost.
5. Dream Films
A Dream Film is made from a character you describe in words — a synthetic, made-up person, not a real one. It does not capture your real face or voice.
- You describe the character — your own look, or a clearly fictional one — and the app generates a synthetic stand-in. No photo, no recording, no face or voice is captured to make a film, so no biometric data is collected.
- Don't describe your character as a real or public figure in order to depict their likeness. The app refuses obvious cases, and creating a recognisable likeness of a real person who hasn't agreed to it is a serious legal risk and entirely your responsibility — not ours.
- Every film is clearly labelled AI-generated. You own your finished film and may use it, including commercially.
- You will not use films to deceive, defame, harass, create sexual content of anyone, depict a real person as if it were them, or pass AI-made footage off as real where that would mislead or harm. We may remove films and close accounts that do — and if you believe a film depicts a real person without their consent, tell us at hello@idreamstuff.com and we'll take it down.
6. The community — how to be here
Dream Friends, resonances, and the conversations between matched dreamers are a small, gentle social space. To keep it that way, when you share or message you agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, demean, or hate on anyone.
- Post sexual content involving minors — ever — or non-consensual, illegal, or violent content.
- Share other people's private information, or your own contact details and real name (the app will nudge you away from this; please listen to it).
- Spam, advertise, solicit, or use the community to sell things.
- Try to break, scrape, overload, or reverse-engineer the app, or get around its limits and gates.
We give every member tools to report and block, content that draws multiple reports is hidden automatically, and we may remove content, or suspend or close an account, at our discretion — especially for anything above. Chats between matched dreamers are ephemeral by design and disappear on their own; that is not a promise that a recipient can't screenshot what you send, so share accordingly.
7. Memberships, credits & purchases
- Membership is a subscription billed through Apple's App Store or Google Play, on their terms. It renews automatically until you cancel, and you cancel through your Apple or Google account — not through us. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access through the period you've paid for.
- Dream Film credits and any à la carte items are one-time purchases, also through Apple or Google. Because a film consumes computing the moment it's generated, credits and rendered films are non-refundable once the render begins — except where the law or the store's policy requires otherwise. If a film fails to render, we refund its credits. Credits are consumed when you make a film and are not transferable or redeemable for cash.
- Made-to-order items — films, and physical prints, postcards, and decks — are produced individually for you and, once made or in production, are not refundable, except where the law requires otherwise or where we say so.
- Prices can change; we'll show the current price before you buy, and any change to an active subscription takes effect on your next renewal. Refunds for store purchases are handled by Apple and Google under their policies.
8. The Shop & affiliate links
Some items in the Shop link out to other retailers, and we may earn a commission if you buy through them. Those links open in your normal browser, you're buying from that retailer under their terms, and we're not responsible for their products, prices, or service.
9. What's ours
The app itself — its design, the artwork style, the glyph and symbol system, the written content of the meditations, stories, and Almanac, the name and the logo — belongs to us. You're welcome to use the app as intended; you're not licensed to copy, resell, or build a competing product out of its parts. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we're free to use them without owing you anything for them.
10. The services and partners behind the app
I Dream Stuff runs on third parties — the app stores, payment processors, cloud hosting, and the AI model providers that generate your readings, cards, and films. Your use of some features may be subject to those providers' own terms, and where a provider's acceptable-use rules are stricter than ours, the stricter rules apply to that feature.
Dream Films are rendered by Replicate (primary) and fal.ai (fallback) — both US-based AI platforms — using ByteDance's Seedance video model, which those platforms host and run on their own infrastructure; only a scene description (never your face, voice, or raw dream text) is sent to render a film. Our providers are based primarily in the United States, and some may process data in other countries whose privacy laws differ from your own; the Privacy Policy explains what is processed where, and the safeguards we use. We're not responsible for third-party services themselves, and the app's speed, availability, and output can depend on them.
11. The app is provided "as is"
We work hard to make I Dream Stuff good and reliable, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that AI output will meet a particular expectation. To the fullest extent the law allows, the app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
12. Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD $100. These limits don't apply to liability the law doesn't allow us to limit — for example, for our own fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence — and some places don't allow some of these limits, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law permits.
13. Your responsibility to us
If your use of the app — especially uploading a likeness that isn't yours to use, or misusing the community — causes a claim against us, you agree to be responsible for it (to indemnify us), including our reasonable legal costs, to the extent the law allows. We may take over the defence of any such claim ourselves. This section, and §§11–12, continue to apply after you stop using the app or delete your account.
14. Disputes — please read this
Most problems can be sorted out quickly. Before starting a formal dispute, you agree to contact us first at hello@idreamstuff.com and give us 45 days to try to resolve it with you informally; we'll do the same for you. If that doesn't work:
- Arbitration. You and we agree that any dispute relating to the app or these terms will be resolved by binding, individual arbitration rather than in court — except that (a) either of us may bring a qualifying claim in small-claims court, and (b) either of us may ask a court for an injunction to stop misuse of intellectual property or of the app. Arbitration is run under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, and takes place in the county where you live (or by phone or video). You and we give up the right to a trial in court and to a jury.
- No class actions. You and we may bring claims against the other only on an individual basis — not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, or representative action.
- If lots of similar claims are filed at once. If 100 or more similar arbitration claims are filed together or with the help of the same firm, they may be handled in batches to keep the process workable and fair — one arbitrator and one set of fees per batch.
- Opting out. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first accepting these terms by emailing hello@idreamstuff.com with your handle and a clear statement that you want to opt out. Opting out won't affect anything else in these terms.
- The Federal Arbitration Act governs the interpretation and enforcement of this section.
15. Which law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and subject to §14. Where a dispute may go to court rather than arbitration, it will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Connecticut, and you and we consent to that.
16. Ending things
You can stop at any time and delete your account and all your data from Settings — it's permanent and it's yours to do. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, or where we have to for legal or security reasons. When an account is deleted, we delete or de-identify its data as described in the Privacy Policy. If we ever wind the app down, we'll give reasonable notice so you can export your journal first.
17. Changes to these terms
If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms. If you don't agree to a change, stop using the app and, if you like, delete your account.
18. The fine print
- Talking to you electronically. By using the app you agree we can communicate with you electronically — in the app and by email — and that those communications meet any legal requirement to be in writing.
- Handing off the agreement. You can't transfer these terms to anyone else. We may transfer them to an affiliate or to a successor if the business is sold or reorganised, on notice to you.
- Things outside anyone's control. We're not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control — including outages, cyber-attacks, and the failure or unavailability of the AI models, partners, or APIs the app depends on.
- If part of this falls away. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still stands, and only the smallest necessary part is trimmed.
- No waiver. If we don't enforce a part of these terms right away, that isn't us giving it up.
- Export and sanctions. You confirm you're not barred from using the app under applicable export-control or sanctions laws.
- The whole deal. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the app, and replace anything said before.
