My dreams are encrypted. What happens if I lose my phone?

This is the one thing worth reading twice. Your written dreams are encrypted, and the key that unscrambles them is generated on your phone and stays there — we never receive it. That's what makes zero-access encryption real. It's also why recovery rests with you: if you lose the phone and your recovery key, those dreams can't be brought back.

So: save your recovery key somewhere that isn't your phone — a password manager, or paper in a drawer. You can generate a fresh key any time from Settings.

If I add a Dream Friend, can they see my dreams?

No — not one, not automatically, not ever unless you choose. This is the question people ask most nervously, so plainly: a Dream Friend is a connection, not a key to your journal. Becoming friends doesn't hand them anything. It only unlocks the ability for you to show them things one at a time — and even then you flip on each piece yourself: the summary, your dream in your own words, the readings you choose, the dream card, and the film — each its own switch, all off until you turn it on. Whatever you share is a snapshot shown only while its switch is on; flip it off and it's pulled from their feed. If you never share, your friends see nothing. So you can safely add the people you want to dream alongside; the friendship opens a door, it doesn't walk through it.

A gentle note on comfort: the dream card reveals the least — it's an image, open to reading. Your own words, your readings, the summary, and a film show far more of your inner world. Share those as sparingly as feels right to you.

Who can see my dreams, overall?

By default, only you. Beyond the friend-sharing above, the community Resonances only ever surface overlapping keywords between dreams — never your dream story, your summary, your readings or your proof phrase. The whole picture is in our Privacy Policy.

Does a Dream Film use my face or voice?

No. A Dream Film is built from a character you describe in words — a synthetic, made-up person — so it never captures your real face or voice. There's nothing biometric collected, stored, or to delete. Just describe the character you'd like in the film (your own look, or a fictional one), and it's generated from that. Please don't describe a real or famous person to depict their likeness.

A nudge didn't go off — what do I check?

Our nudges are notifications, so: make sure notifications are allowed for I Dream Stuff, and that your ringer is on — a phone's silent switch will mute us no matter what we do, and no app can override it. The Write your dream nudge is visual, so it still lands on silent.

If you need to be woken, set your phone's own alarm and let our nudge meet you afterwards. That's not us passing the buck — an alarm clock is the one thing the operating system won't let a third-party app do reliably, and we'd rather say so than let you oversleep. If something still misbehaves, email us your phone model and what happened.

What’s free, and what’s membership?

The core is free, forever: catch every dream typed or spoken, one reading on every dream, five dream-cards to keep, the day's meditation, story and almanac, your friends' dreams and your resonances — all under zero-access encryption, and a PDF of everything whenever you want it.

Membership raises the monthly amounts: up to 500 readings and 60 dream-cards a month, plus a half-dozen deep-dive Multi-Dream Reports — your patterns traced across the months and years. It also opens the whole Zone library of meditations, sleep stories and soundscapes. Cancel any time from the App Store or Google Play.

Not ready for a membership? You can also buy a single extra reading or dream-card on its own, or a small bundle — no subscription needed.

Made-to-order things — Dream Films, fine-art prints, postcards, the Dream Deck — are each made individually for you, so each is bought on its own, membership or not.

How do I get my dreams out?

Settings will make you a PDF of your journal — a printed-zine version to keep — or a plain-text backup you can restore from. It's yours; take it anywhere.

How do I delete my account and data?

Open the app, go to Settings, and choose to delete your account. This permanently erases your dreams, profile, proof phrase, films and matches. It can't be undone — so if you want a copy, make the PDF first.

Do I have to use my real birthday?

We ask your date of birth only to confirm you're 18 or older (the app is for adults). We don't display it or use it for anything else.

Still stuck?

Email support@idreamstuff.com and we'll get back to you.
